   Non Fiction Story

   The following story is an excerpt from a sad chapter in my life. It feels great to get the truth out in a post that anybody in the whole world could read, but probably very few will. This boy is a douchebag and his name definitely does not start with a J…. cough…..
   
   Once upon a time, a girl moved schools, and it was really really tough for her. Then slowly she started to make friends and it got a little bit easier, and finally she met a boy whom she really really liked. She decided to start talking to him and they then started hanging out. Unfortunately he had a girlfriend.
   
   One night after studying with him, he drove her home late, there was a significant amount of passion in the air. He supposedly got lost and pulled the car to the side of the road and then proceeded to kiss her. She knew that this was not good because he still had a girlfriend, So she told him that she didn’t want to do this since she knew she would get hurt and used. He was so sweet though and told her that he would never hurt or use her and even that he’d break up with his girlfriend because he cared about her a lot.( this was a sign that he was a sucky guy, he cheated on his girlfriend for goodness sake!) but, being a bit of a dumb ass, she believed him. She was happy. Unfortunately, the next day he told her that he couldn’t break up with his gf because he wanted to get to know her better before making any rash decisions, which she totally understood.
   
   In the proceeding couple of weeks, this girl and boy went on to flirt and even kissed a few more times, despite the girlfriend. I can easily see how this girl could be classified as a bitch or slut, but really she was just in love. Anyways, one evening, he told her that he was falling in love with her. She then knew she had to end it untiil he was single, because, well if he was falling in love with her he’d break up with his girlfriend! But….. he did not, instead he ignored the girl for a good month. Finally, as she was just starting to forget and move on, she got a text from him randomly one day. They then went on to flirt a bunch more and she found out that his girlfriend had broken up with HIM… hahaha
   
   anyways, she was glad. They then met up and made out in the middle of the night in his car. But she stopped him and first made sure he knew that she still didn’t want to be hurt, she wanted to be his girlfriend. He told her that of course he was committed, they just couldn’t make it public quite yet, which she basically perceived as, that they were dating, so of course she was over joyous! Until…..he ignored her for a good 5 days after that night. She tried to not think about it but really it was constantly on her mind and driving her crazy. Then her and her friend went to his house and they hung out and he kissed her and flirted with her a lot again and she was again happy.
   
   But following this evening she was again ignored. This pattern continued. They’d have a lot of fun together but then he’d just ignore her. He then went away to a hot dry state, to visit his “best friend” who was a girl. The girl he left in Colorado was a bit suspicious and jealous of this said “best friend” and though she never got proof, she’s pretty sure that he was trying to win the affections of her and failed while away. The girl was also jealous because the boys brother was now legitimately dating her best friend who didn’t even live down there with them, yet somehow she always won.
   
   So anyways, the boy came back to Colorado and to keep the girl around, he took her out and they cuddled and kissed a lot. Again she was so happy when with him. But, the aftermath and the time without him were so depressing and she felt utterly alone because he literally never talked to her and always flirted with other girls. She was beginning to not be able to handle this crazy up and down love roller coaster. She really just wanted to confront him, but she was afraid of losing what she did have with him. so she just let him do what he said he wouldn’t, hurt her and use her, and told herself that eventually they’d date and always made excuses for him. In her heart she knew, chances are, that wasn’t going to happen. She began to doubt anyone would ever really care about her and she’d eternally be stuck with guys who had no problem hurting her and lying continually!!!

   Spring Awakening Review

   Mmkay, so recently I went to the Buelle Theatre and i saw Spring Awakening twice while the tour was here in Denver. I hadn’t really looked into the show until I got an advertisement from the Denver Center since i saw Rent. I started looking into Spring Awakening and read about the challanging and day to day teen issues it faces, such as, sex, masturbation, suicide, abuse, abortion, bad grades, depression. Basically teen angst!

   I started listening to the music from spring awakening and found it to be amazing. There are catchy upbeat rock songs like “The B**** of Living, My junk, and Totally F*****” Touching/Haunting songs like, “Dont Do sadness”, The Dark I Know Well”, and “Those You’ve Known” Sensual songs, such as,”Touch me” “The Word of Your Body” and “The Guilty Ones. And pretty songs “The song of Purple Summer” “Blue Wind” and “I believe”. When it comes to music I’d say that this show had a phenomenal score. Great to keep teenagers engaged, and even adults will appreciate the beauty and heart in these songs.

   Now this leads me into the choreography in this musical. The choreography was so unique! It was pretty simple and mostly the same dance through out the musical. In some songs theyd change the order of the dance moves, or the speed. But i really enjoyed and thought it was interesting how they did the same dance throughtout. it was sort of an odd interpretive dance, And i loveeeed the choreography Melchior did in “The Mirror-Blue Night” soooo beautiful and unigue. The Choreography during The “B**** of Living” was also incredible, it didnt follow the dance moves throughout the musical, but it was really fun and energetic to watch. Just watching it made youre heart beat faster!

   Now onto the acting! The acting in this show was pretty good! I thought that the actors generally could have gone a bit deeper with their characters though! Moritz character was probably my favorite! Taylor Trensch did a great job of embracing the awkwardness, and confusion Moritz is going through, and then the depression. As far as leads go, I thought Wendla could have portrayed more innocence. I also, found it interesting how all adult parts were played by the same two adults, not bad, just different! But all in all, it was a cast of wonderful actors providing easy to love characters:)

   As far as lighting and set design goes, it was spectacular! The set is simple, but still draws your attention with all of its randomness on the brick wall in the background. Then there are seats on the left and right on the stage and for just 25$ you can sit on the stage with the actors the whole show. I didnt get to experience this, but im sure it was truely amazing! It was really unique how the actors were always on stage. Even if theyre not in the scene, they often sand and danced. and then to take it ever farther, The members of the ensemble were dressed in normal clothes and would just whip out a microphone and sing. It was truely a unique style i’d never seen done before. The lighting was amazing. sometimes youd feel like you were watching a concert, such as during “The B**** of Living” and other times it’d feel like it was nightime in the graveyard!

   Now, as far as the actual concept of the musical, and the script goes. It was a very deep show. It covers difficult issues in the teenage life. I wouldnt reccomend this show to anyone younger then fifteen. I was prepared for a inappropriate show and it still shocked me. There is some nudity, so be aware of that. But, the inappropriateness that this show carrys, is not offensive, its not meant to be gross. It honestly, shows life, it shows the life of teenagers and its actually sort of pretty how it portrays sex and such. I do believe they could have toned it down, but i see why Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater didnt and i respect that I loved how the show managedto be serious, but bring the perfect amount of comic relief. It also had just the right amount of tragedy, yet still made you feel hopeful at the end!

   All in all, a wonderful show and  unique experience. Duncan Sheik ands Steven Sater took a play written hundreds of years ago by Frank Wedekind, and showed us how, not much has changed for us teenagers! Even if you’re not a theatre person I’m pretty sure you’d enjoy this show. And if you do appreciate a good show, you will not be dissapointed. An amazing score, astonishishing script, specatacular actors, and touching story!

   Blogging?

   Well, I’ve never blogged before, but that’s what tumblr is for! So i’m going to start! I looked up what a blog was exactly on urbandictionary.com i got things like, web log, web diary, place where people whine about their lives! so hmm okay good start.

   Dear, Interwebz Diary Blog Thing,

   I start at a new school tomorow! isnt that exciting!!!!!! Im quite nervous, I wonder what the people are going to be like! I heard theres a lot of cowboys down here! i wonder if that’s true! Cowboys are interesting! the only cowboy teenager i know is my old friend Brian, Hed wear cowboy boots and everything! Silly Brian. Hmm i wonder what their theatre department is like, i enjoy theatre, i wonder what their boys are like, i enjoy boys. hmmmm I don’t know what i’m going to wear! I need to figure this stuff out! AH im scared. rawr. im a dinosaur. I need some cuadernos, (thats spanish for notebooks) I think im going to go buy some now….Bye
